FYI - Farm and Fleet currently has the Outbreak 450XD at the lowest price I have seen it.
Doesn't look to be available for shipping ...
IMO the Eskimo Outbreak XD series are the best hubs on the market. I own an OUTBREAK 450XD and an OUTBREAK 250XD [both purchased in DEC 2021]. The "no trip" door was a game-changer. The overall build quality is great and the StormShield™ fabric performs well. One of the regulars in my ice fishing group bought a new Otter Vortex Pro Lodge for the 2022-2023 season. It is nice, but I would rank it behind my 450XD in terms of workmanship and material quality. Not sure which is the 3rd best hub series out there (after Eskimo Outbreak XD and Otter Vortex Pro), but IMO it is a very distant 3rd.Be sure to pay attention to the collapsed size and weight specs of these units as you shop. These are not small or light shelters - be sure you can handle loading, unloading, transporting to & from the lake, as well as traveling over the ice.So I picked up the 250 shortly after my 450, intent of taking 250 out on solo runs. Well, I did that 1X - now I just take the 450 even when solo. How did you decide on the 350? That is the one size of this series I have not yet encountered in the wild.FYI - Farm and Fleet currently has the Outbreak 450XD at the lowest price I have seen it.
Great question regarding why I chose the 350xd size. Most of my ice fishing trips are walk on by myself with small jet sled and a few trips with two other adults. The size and weight are very important to me with portability and ability to set it up by myself. I actually could have bought the 450xd for less money but chose the 350 for less weight and length when packed up and hauling it in the smaller jet sled. Gonna take it out this weekend on it's trial run and will let you know what I think of it's performance. At age 68 really need a snowmachine and trailer to cart my ass out there but just can't justify $20,000,00 for new sled and clamshell trailer. Am shopping for used machine and trailer but probably not in the cards until next spring/summer and used purchase is risky so need enough time to make sure I make the right decision.
I have the 450 xd. Same design only slightly larger. It is a great shelter. Goes up easily, heats well, and handles wind and nasty weather well, if tied out properly. My only dislike is the size of the bag it comes with. It could use to be larger, especially when you are fighting with it in the snow and wind in the middle of the lake. It is not easy to get back in the bag. I am thinking about having someone add a full-length zipper and extending the width of the bag by 8-12".
