Ya know, I was fishing for those annoying mountain chubs today (lake trout). They would  look at white bucktails, white tube jigs, chartreuse tube jigs, and buckshot rattlespoons of any type and color and just look... even for a minute or two, no matter what you did they wouldn't hit. I caught a dinky 18" lake trout on a tipup with a 5" deadbait, only fish of the day and I fished my A$$ off.
if anybody from michigan will help me out with the lakes and stuff up here I'd really appreciate it since I'm new to the area.

I've seen many colors work: white, silver, blue, red, and prisim colors in clear, white, blue, purple, red, heck I even saw a few caught on lime green and hot pink.
It really doesn't matter what color you use, if there feeding they'll chase and eat almost everything.
:-\ And I heard they like smelt, but a day's $$$$$ cost will $$$$$$cost you alot in the end if the man shows up to check out your set-ups.  :o
