I love it.  A lot of the lakes around me are in HD, offering down to 1 foot gradient.  For the most part, it is pretty accurate.  The biggest drawback is impact on battery life because of the GPS.  If lakes around you are on it, I would recommend!

It has better coverage than the chip I paid $100 for that goes in my gps.... the maps are more detailed too. Best bargain in fishing right now...imo

The maps look blocky and mega cheap looking at first. As you zoom in, it downloads the detail. If your favorite lake is out of cell service, make sure you zoom it at home before you leave. Wifi makes the process much faster, especially if you add a Google Earth overlay or something else.

Its a really cool ap

Is there any way to through up a screen shot from an iphone to see what it's like. I only see 4 lakes close to me in Alberta but if its detailed enough I'm on board.

Navionics for iPhone is sweet.  First App I bought when I got my phone and absolutely love it.  I can sit on the couch and look at the map and plan the spots I want to hit first.  Then when I get out there it will put me right on the spot.  I have an old H2O with the Navionics chip in it too, so if cell coverage is spotty or non-existant I have a back-up.  But yeah, worth every penny.

Take care,
Tom

So glad you started this post Swiss! I just went and downloaded it and it is awesome!!! Best $11 investment ever!!!

GPS does burn phone battery but it's easy to buy one of those $3 cigarette lighter adapters from someplace like Walmart. I've bought several and on a couple of them, I cut off the big clamps and put the little female quick connects on them so they attach to my Humminbird battery.

They could improve the app by adding food delivery locations. "Hello, Jimmy Johns? Yeah, I'm in the third Shanty on the left. The Blue one... No the other Blue one... No the other Blue one... No the other Blue one................... ...................... ...................... ......."

The only thing I don't like is u can't zoom in far enough. I emailed them a 100 time about this so hopefully it will change. It's great for a round about but u can't pin point your way points.

Can you see any lake or is it to only certain lakes? The cabelas one only uses specific areas.  If it works for all bodies of water I would be interested.

I have seen every lake I have gone to with it, but the smaller ones do not have detail like the bigger ones.

For here in michigan I noticed that with the exeption of a few extras its limited to lake maps found on the dnr website or a sportsmans connection book.  Obviously gps is the benefit unless your content with a compass, scale ruler, laser rangefinder, and notepad.
I have a BS in Narrative Fishing History.

The avionics app is great for the lower 48 , but the lack of maps in the northwest ie yukon territory and Alaska make it useless for us in the colder climates. it looks like a great app for any of the areas around the great lakes.
