which rod for pike?

Im gonna buy a tipup that uses a rodand reel to fight the pike. wondering which size pole would be best to get. thanks

i'd use one thats a bit longer and make sure it has a stiff backbone!

I believe that for that type of tip up you will want a fiberglass blank not a carbon blank.  The carbon ones can break I believe.  You may want to do a little research into this.

I use the automatic fisherman, I use it more as a rod holder for a deadstick then I do as a slammer.

I have an Okuma ice rod that I use on this set-up, it is fairly stiff with good backbone
