The wind she is a howlin'
« on: Feb 17, 2006, 08:50 AM »
Since I got home from work this morning, the temperature has dropped from 57 degrees to 34.  The wind is howling. A piece of flashing from my porch just blew over past the neighbors. Auntie Em Auntie Em.................

The moon is much smaller than the earth, however, it is much farther away.

Br-r-r-r-r!!  It's -36 Celcius  up here today, with the windchill factor (luckily not too windy) it makes it fell like -46 Celcius...which works out to about -42 F...... fricken cold eh! They even closed most schools today, and buses are not running in Winnipeg. (They always shut down when temps are lower than -40 C.)

The wind sounded like a freight train last night.  The temps dropped 30 degrees.
Wind like this could get you trolling if you were dumb enough to set a shanty in it.
Remember those ice boats?    They used to get em out on days like this.

It was snowing and blowing here really bad last night and the temp was -17f this morning without the wind factor. Last night I could hardly see the garage from the house. The good part was that it didn't snow all that much and I blew it out of the driveway with my leaf blower. ;D
It seems to go from zero to hero all some have to do is lie.

Same here in northern PA, planned on going fishing today, but cancelled due to the
high winds. So stayed home and my wife said she was sorry that I could not go
fishing. Going after pickerel tomorrow, hope to put one on the leader board for PA. I
already got one that would of made it, but did not have my camera with me.
Tight lines everyone!

I must be crazy, as I was howling with it for laughs yesterday as I fished open water from the bank of one of my ponds. Was using a slip bobber and waxworms trying to get another one of these -- that I got on the ice last year at this time.

It was actually a comfortable 59 F. fishing from the bank of my pond even though it felt like I was going to get blown over anytime. Only positive thing was there was no need to give the bait any action. It bounced up and down quite naturally. Got a perch close to 14 inches at about a pound and 3/4's, a bass of the same size and two small bluegills. Sorry didn't bring the camera with me as I wanted to transfer the big perch live ASAP to another pond.  Laying it on the ground was a no no.

Winds are dying down now here in northern Indiana and some of us diehards are waiting for ice to come back. We might get safe ice again on the ponds. Not so sure about the bigger lakes.  I just want a week where I can fish that tar out of my pond.

you do just fish???

Now I do. I got so busy a few years ago I had a hard time keeping up so I decided to specialize in fish which is my first love. Sometimes I still get behind because the fishing's so good on my property.  ;D

Had several limbs come down along with a large sucker that just missed my truck :o..That would've prevented me from doing any fishin' if there was any real ice to get on

Yes I have. I'm putting one together right now with three perch for a fundraiser for Pheasants Forever. I know it's fishing but I dont' do birds.
