Quick question. I've only been fishing up the highway this year. How far out do you guys usually go up at Lake Louise? I will be with the whole family and we have 4 kids, all under 10. Also we do not have access to a snowmachine. Please advise.

There are 2 places to fish without a machine. Army Point about 1/4 mile straight out from Lake Louise Lodge and at mile 20 boat launch. You can't go where these guys go without a machine.

I hear the only way to get white fish around here is to order them from the Great Lakes region. LOL

Was up fishing for a couple of days last week, Good weather, and great ice with no overflow to speak of (finally).  Fishing was was decent, fish seemed to be pretty active, should be good for a few more weeks for sure.

Lake Louise, many fish weighing in the 10 - 15lb range.   The 10lbers eat the best.

You might want to let them go. You won't make many friends on here or at the lake if they know you keep lakers. While I realize that once in a while one won't kick for release, salmon are easier to catch.

Yeah and a 10lb. salmon isn't 25 years old.  I hope for his sake he's just trying to stir the pot and have some fun.

I saw those 52 fish and they paled in comparison to my 130.  By the way the hardside is underway, no more tent camping for me.

Thanks to regulation changes you can kill any size this year up to thirty pounds.  I still think those 10 lb females eat the best.

I agree. Just because you can doesnt mean you should.

Kinda like that big tree in the yard. You could cut it down for firewood. But its gonna take awhile to replace it. In the end its your call.

Its real sad knowing there are people out there that flat out have no respect for a delicate resourse.  In my opinion they are no diferent than poachers and should be treated as such.  Typical ignorant lurker.  I hope this is the response he was looking for.

Unfortunately, the tree he is cutting down isn't on private property.

I think he should walk into the lodge and speak his intentions. Most of the people at LL don't fish or don't fish much. They do understand the resource and what it takes to protect it. Just ask the Russians. Yes, the ice fishers lose a fish now and then. Not to due diligence though. I heard this lake was almost turned into a rainbow trout stocked lake due to overfishing. I don't think a survey has been taken for years on the population of lakers. I do know that when whitefish netters do LEGAL netting it really screws up the fish. When people do illegal fishing or netting, it REALLY screws up the fish.

Just because it is legal, doesn't meant it is right. Go get some silvers or reds.... they taste much better. Pike are closer, bigger and easier..... if you are meat hunting...... go pike or char.
