Chummin?

just like the title says is it possible to call the pike in like sharks with chum? how good is a fishes nose?

 I chum for chain pickerel sometimes by dumping canned tuna or pieces of sardines down the hole, probably work for pike to. I think its more the chum attracting perch and small bait fish which the pickerel and pike feed on rather than attracting them directly. Seems that when i do this to a bunch of holes when its slow, flags start goin up shortly after.

Not sure where I first heard it but just one of those things I've always heard on the ice.  I should probably check the abstracts.

Nothing illegal about chumming a hole in Mass. That's the problem with the 'old wives tale' factor.
