One side of an island better than the other!

I'll be fishing a large long lake for big jumbo perch this year. There's an island, thats in the middle of the lake, at one end of the lake. The lake narrows there and I heard that perch frequent this island in the winter. Where would be the best side to start drilling holes?

on the flatter side with weeds, would be the best. But, don't now the lake depths and were the weeds are or stumps, trees, any good strucsure on some level ground. What lake or pond are we talking about?
Good luck

I got a hold of a map. Here's the layout of the depth surrounding the island. The north side has submerged logs & brush at 30 ft. The west side is the deepest at 35ft. w/a stream channel. The south side is the shallowest, a flat going out from the island at 5ft. w/ a submerged road. What do you think?

The north side sound like it has the structure, start there. Perch Inc is right thou, if you find were the weeds are that is were they'll be hinding. But, it sounds like were the creek cannel comes up on were the structure is going to be a good starting point. Now if there are weeds on the shallow side on both sides of the road bed that would be good too. Hope this helps at all.

Hey camofish,
Thanks for the help and good advice. One thing I forgot to mention. The island isn't to far from shore so there's a saddle between the island and the shore. ( about 15' at the deepest) What do you think?
