I wasn't gonna be the first to say anything. :o My fist is 4 inches long from knuckle to knuckle so I base bass size on how big the hands are and as fishing24/7 said

. Kinda looks like a solid 5 based on the length but the girth is not there. Nice fish thru the ice tho. Its hard to target big bass thru the ice. This is what a 7 pounder from CT looks like

If the guy says that it weighs 7lbs then I have no reason not to beleive him. The one in your picture doesn't look any bigger then his.  ???

Respectable bass by any means in CT and even more respectable that it came from hardwater. The one in my picture is about the same length  but mine has a girth of 18 inches  :o

pictures can be totally weird to look at depending on where a fish is held in relation to camera and the size of the angler.  a tape measure is accurate and gives me the reference i need to know if a fish was big.  scales are so unreliable to me.

Nice fish. I got a bass that was 7lb on the button two weeks ago. It was weighed, measured, pics taken and thrown back. After I looked at the pics I wouldn't have thought it was 7lbs if I didn't weight, measure and catch it.....

Who cares if it weight 7 pounds or not, it's a nice looking fish.  And those of you who doubt it, as my Mom always said, "Green eyes don't become you!"

Either way it is a beautiful fish. If you want to silence the naysayers you could test your scale by weighing something of a known weight to make sure it's calibrated. I have pics of me and my buddy holding a 39 inch pike. In his pics the thing looks 45, in mine it looks 25. Advertising execs have made fortunes with the knowledge that perspective can significantly alter how big something looks in a picture.
Pike fishing is a like a cruel mistress that is too beautiful to leave.
