I had the same thing happen yesterday lol.I cut the rats nest out and tied the the two sections of good line together to get me though the day. It needs new line anyway.

You could always give the plastic coated line a try.  It doesnt freeze and very rarly knots.  Its expensive stuff but gets rid of the knot headaches.
