Should be safe because Monksville had and average of 7" of ice and it takes Monksville twice as long as Sheppard to freeze. The parking lot might be difficult to maneuver because of the ice build up

make sure you drill holes every so often if you have never fished it before, there are springs in the lake which makes the ice inconsistant.  I was there 2 weeks ago and there was mostly 4-6".  I know if you walk all the way to the left from the parking lot near the far cove the ice will be about 2".  Good luck.

I always bring a spud bar with me to probe the ice for weak spots as I'm walking out to set up. Fell through the ice as a teen in water over my head and never want to repeat that again.

No havent gone to Shepards, we went to franks bait shop which we got there around 2 30 or 2 40 so we thought we would only get to fish for like 1 hour so we went to Munksville instead, we were ter for about 2 hours before it started to get dark and jigged out 17 sunnies and 9 perch. Missed about 20 hits and the strike indicator broke on the tip of my pole, any advice on good strike indicators? It keeps on freezing.
