We got 3" in stillwater. All snow. I'd imagine it stayed all snow north. News said 6" but didnt see for myself but it was all snow here.
Anyone know how much snow fell and any chance it turned to sleet/freezing rain or at least warmed up at the end?
John, only 1/2 inch by me, stayed warm last night, 25 degrees.
Good to hear Bill, Looking at the weather report this morning and the radar loop it looked to me that there was less snow north of glens falls. If that's the case there might be lots of new areas safe to fish after this weekend
Around 10 degrees tonight, and-10 tomorrow night, should really help.
There's a world of difference if that ice is under even a couple of inches of snow ….. maybe the wind will blow all the snow off but not bust up the ice. Long term forecast isn't great but there's enough cold in it to build some ice if the good water locks up.
Snow is very heavy and water saturated it won’t be blowing off maybe freezing over which I’m hoping for
I have read on here that people are fishing from Hearthstone, can any one report on the condition of the road into the campground? Plowed, ice covered, passable with 4wd, etc.?
Had 3" of snow in Saratoga, closer to 5" when you got up to Gansevoort. Good to hear that the snow tapered off once you got north of Glens Falls. If we all say a collective prayer, maybe we can get a couple windless nights. With the temps where they are, the open water will freeze and free up a lot of untouched territory
Bolton NY - "Friday NightMostly clear, with a low around -10. Wind chill values as low as -20. North wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening."
All this cold coming is great. Get to skip LG and fish for those real big lakers on Champ.
Bait for laker fishing? Dafuq you talking about LMAO.
Ill put a hunt or medium shiner on any metal i toss as well as my hair jigs. Have fished them both ways and with bait has out fished without bait every time. I toss a lot of tubes and swimbaits though so a lot of my bait turns to chum.
My 3 biggest lakers have all came on Icicles on tip ups, about 20-25’ below the Ice, over 90’+ of water. Haven’t fished for them in years like that tho. Have since changed to chasing bigger fish through the ice.
Never heard of it. What happened to not spot burning?
