gettin started

New to Montana.  Lots of ice fishing experience in Michigan.  Question to you all... it appears that not many fish live minnows in this area.  I've never seen a bait shop with minnows in the state.  Does anyone fish tip ups with minnows?  This is a Midwest mainstay for walleye, pike and even perch.

Most lakes in Montana don't allow live minnows.

You can only use live minnows in eastern Montana in warm water fisheries. Great Falls, Lewistown, Jordan, Huntley all sell live minnows, that I am aware of. I'm sure there are more.

If you have a fishing license you should have gotten the up to date regulations. I would suggest that you read up on the rules.
