Tully Lake Fun
« on: Mar 15, 2009, 07:26 PM »
What a day to be out on the ice! Simply incredible weather. When a breeze did blow it was almost refreshing. And the fish co-operated ! The jigging was just incredible and at times it was down right freaky. In one instance Rick was on some big punkers so we grabbed the auger and punched holes two feet to either side and we lined up three abreast and proceed to have doubles and triples on until we reached the point where we were sick of catching punkers and walked away. After lunch (thanks again Rick) Rick lands on anther hot hole, this time mostly fatty perch with a few punkers and shorts thrown in. Rick dropped his line down five times and came straight back up with five nice perch. This time we decided against leaving the bite to get the auger so we tag teamed the hole. While one was taking off a fish the other would throw his lure down. We went back and fourth like that and easily pulled twenty fish in thirty minutes.

I landed a nice round robin of punker, pickeral, perch, cropie, and bass. Rick took lunkers with two nice bass that were right around three pounds each. We landed well over one hundred fish today. I took home 15 perch and a fat crappie for a fish fry.

Thanks for a great day out Rick and it was a joy to meet and fish with your son as well. He truly enjoys being out on the ice with dad. Great weather, Great fishing, and great company.

What an awesome day today Capt  This might have been my last trip for this season. Here are a few more pics

The boy

It was a great way to end the season. Thanks for joining us today Capt, it was a pleasure!

Jeeps, the ice was still a good 14" for the most part the edges were fine with a few areas around the shore that were going. Where we walked on to the left of the ramp was still solid and might be fishable next weekend, but the area just a little farther down by some rocks was open a little.

Doesn't it suck when a river kicks your but.

But, at least you admit you are not a good enough
fisherman to put your time in and beat it.

So many places to fish, yet so little time!   ;D

I admit that perhaps that place kiccked my A$$ but I will never admit I am not a good enough fisherman to beat it!  I just have no desire too!
