" Ice Flies" ???????

Just came across some ice flies made by Cortland Line Co. (Local Tackel Shop)
4 in a pack -> Called -> Cortland Pro Select, Tungsten Ice Fly Assortment (Assortment C)
Flies are tied with a tungsten bead in the center. Nice looking!
Anyone know of these, have ever used then, and how they work?

I have not heard of those, are they more of a fly than jig ?
For lakers I tie my own flies (jig) using angel hair, krystal flash and some minnow flash.

I use some really small nymphs or wet flies (20 or 22) for those days that the perch and gills won't hit on spikes. Some of the local tackle shops here sell "perch flies". I put a small split shot about a foot above the fly to take it down faster. Sometimes on camera I'll see the fish hitting the split shot instead of the fly then I know to go a bit bigger.
Tuna those look like funky shad darts!

I use them off a dropper about 12 inches from my main jig. check your regs because in some states two hooks on one line count as two devices.

ice flies are pretty common around northern indiana. they are outstanding when fish are in a negitive mood and just want to stare at a bait for a couple minutes then suck it in. the idea is a true horizontal fly. if its not flat it doesn't work. to watch someone proficient in fishing a fly is like watching picasso paint. i have actually seen guys throw thier rods down in their buckets because they are getting outfished 40 to 0 on 12" plus crappies and leave. (weren't watching me!)
sadly the fly guys are tight lipped and give NO info for the most part. i tie some (and give info cause i suck)
but the flossies, larva lace, wraps and skins are flat out deadly!! like most things, most guys wont put in the time to learn it....its worth it!
as far as the bead in the middle.....why?

OK!
The Foxee packs look just like the Cortland, especially the right one showing the tungsten bead in the middle of the fly!
Thanks icejunkey -> Let me know how you do with them!

Here's a few that I tied. Just a thread wrap then lead, then any color or pattern you want. It's pretty simple.

Right in the middle of the season last year my favorite lake kinda shut down and fishin was real slow. Couple older guys went out there with "ice flys" and did real good. What they were useing looked exactly like a nymph fly for trout. Me and a buddy tried it but didnt seem to have much luck. Not sure what it was for that week but those 2 guys we talked to did real good every time they went out.
