The difference between the biggest Black or White crappie is minimal. Whites have it by a very small margin. What any angler needs to concern himself with is: where is the largest Crappie by him, Black or White.According to my personal record list, by weight:White Crappie: 5lb 3oz Mississippi, Enid Reservoir 1957Black Crappie: 5lb 0oz Minnesota, Vermillion River 1940Do not concern yourself with this. When fishing here in North NJ, White Crappie will never cross your mind while pulling in 2.5lb Blacks, unless you go south of the Mason Dixon Line, in south Jersey, where Whites rule.
u aint going to get that fish threw a 6 inch hole
man o man thats nuts a crappie dont grow that big a big one is a pound and half you wont catch one that big
I cant remember the last white I cayght, I think I was down in Kansas in open water. I have seen a 5 lb white that a guy caught on a trot line. that was one freaky lookin fish man. Nose down in the 5 gal. bucket it touched top and bottom and the tail hung way out over the top. Dont know how long it was we only had a hand scale. The first year I started ice fishin, I caught a 3# 8 oz. crappie 18 1/4" through a 7 in. hole. Ice was only about 3" thick and about the time i didnt think she was gonna fit she stuck her nose in the hole flipped a litle and slid out on the ice. My buddy and his kid tried to tell me that is was some freaky lookin bass cuz Crappies just dont grow that big. Well, Not bein much of a crappie man, I didnt really know what i had. I about cleaned it before another buddy called up and suggested I measure and weigh it. The guy who ran the bait store about freaked out on me and said if I couldnt pay to mount it He would. Ive never had anything mounted in My life. But he knew a guy ho got it done for me for only $110 and It looks awesome.
