That takes in commercial, that takes in accidents as well , ii also found this A review of the data from 2000-2019 found that: 878 commercial fishermen died from a traumatic injury while fishing in the U.S., averaging over 43 deaths per year. Nearly half of all fatalities (414, 47%) occurred after a vessel disaster. Another 266 (30%) fatalities were due to falls overboard.[url]]A review of the data from 2000-2019 found that: 878 commercial fishermen died from a traumatic injury while fishing in the U.S., averaging over 43 deaths per year. Commercial fishing is consistently the most dangerous industry in the world. The fatality rate for U.S. fishermen is 203.6 per 100,000 workers, which is 50 times the mortality rate of the average worker.

I agree. I think I just bought the spud bar he was using in that video from Cabelas. My other one I think is buried in my garage and I had been thinking about getting one to have as a "spare."  I also like the picks he was wearing and just ordered 2 pair on Amazon!  @)

I've been known to leave it at the lake too!  ::)  But I don;t get too upset about it. I figure maybe somebody needed one and is using it now.  @)

Always use the tether strap/rope on your spud too. The last thing I want to do (other than fall in) is lose my spud to the bottom of the lake.

standard equipment for early and late ice. float coat, spud and picks, but, also bring 30 foot rope with a boat bumper tied to one end to toss if needed.

Was thinking about that too. Everytime I step up to the side of the boat trolling alone.

Wouldn’t take much to be stuck in the middle of a lake watching your boat troll away.  :o
