Late Ice Walleye?
« on: Feb 26, 2006, 01:32 PM »
Trout lakes are becoming dead, and the seasons coming to and end here in VT. Eyes are still open and I've yet to ever catch one. Anyone have any tips for late season eyes, ie. depth, location, bait, and depth to suspend bait?

Late ice walleyes should be heading to the shallows to get ready for spawning.  Look for any current areas or narrows with shallow water and some form of cover.  Its pretty much been all late ice or first ice fishing here in Mich.  I've been using jigging spoons with some success.

Over here in WNY, this time of the year, the eye"s are gonna start staging for the spawn. If you"ve got any creeks that are used for spawning, Start fishing for em there. 25 to 30FOW during the day, 25 and less FOW after dark.
