yeah, i couldn't fit her down the hole. i need a bigger auger!!! :woot:

That's because you were doing it wrong.  You don't use a whole ex-wife, just strips from her belly or an eye on your jig. Freeze the rest when you get home. That way an ex can last all season.
Thanks, Dad, for taking the time to show me how to fish!!

i heard of chicken livers for bullhead and I personally use corn to catch perch

chicken livers work great for the cats...also when i was a kid i used to catch some pretty good sunnies on a gold hook with a pc. of grass ;D

I've used bubble gum, candy corn, snails, pipe cleaners, lint from my pocket, plain hook, plus other things I can't even remember now.  I once caught a nice trout on a clip-on depthfinder (sounder) while placing my tip-ups but that was accidental.

A sounder is a weight you attach to your hook to get the depth of the water......

Just a lead weight with a spring clip that you use to "Sound" or mark the depth of the water. Some of them are just dipped in an Orange rubber coating.

Man are you taking a trip down memory lane there.
When I was a kid one of my friends fathers was a chemist for G.E and he would make Homade Glow in the dark silly putty for us (by the bucket full) and we used it for fishing.

If you think about it, Some people are quite snobby about yarn and feathers tied to a hook.

Lost something huge on Pizza Dough one night after a night of drinking; I put it on the hook and threw in as a joke. We were awoken that night by the sound of a screeming drag. Unfortunately the line broke when I set the hook too hard. I'm guessing it was a carp or catfish.

The sounder lets you set your line at different distances from the bottom. Lower it down until it hits the bottom then pull up as much line as you want distance from the bottom. Guys commonly mark the line with bobbers, buttons, sinkers, knots ect...

That Marcum depth finder is a god send, I use that thing too! Man does it save time & effort!!

Ive done the same thing while sounding my hole with a neon green sounder. i was surprised to pull up a 18" rainbow.
