Not a fish, but my latest taxidermy project.

Still trying to find the right piece of wood to permanently afix it to, looking for a 12 inch wide slice rounded outside edge still with bark you typically get from from a saw mill.

I have named it OBAMA.

Crappie66 try Walnuthollow.com they have what you are speaking of in different sizes. A extra large is 11 to 12 inches. Click on wood surfaces under browse categories. Basswood rounds is what you are looking For. I use them alot for fish mounts and europeans should work perfect for you.

What I am looking for is the piece they cut off with bark.  The wood grain would go against the wall and the bark would face outwards to get a read look of a squirrel climbing up.

There was this random black squirrel in our neighborhood, I was joking with my neighbor about wanting to mount it and name it Obama.  I walked outside early this fall and there was a plastic bag on my patio with a squirrel in it, the neighbor had took me literally and shot it.  Once it was dead I felt obligated to mount it, so I ordered a kit and knocked it out in a few hours.  Took an elective Taxidermy class in HS at Carroll so I have been wanting to do something again.  Now wanting to do a coyote or red fox.

32" Pike caught at Lake Stonycreek in Somerset county PA on a 9+" perch with a tipup on 10 lb. test. I used the only perch I caught for bait. At the end of the day, when I got to the last tipup, all the line was off the spool and the flag never went up. Took about 45 minutes to get it up out. Every time it got to the hole, it would run about 70' back and forth. That's what got me hooked on ice fishing.

My first Northern, caught ice fishing with a mousie believe it or not, 34". Always wanted to catch one, so I mounted my first  :)

Steelhead, kept him for mounting because I caught him on the first cast in a blizzard, thought it would make a good memory

Group of craps I got ice fishing a few years back, biggest is a touch over 12"

My first walleye, 28" and 8lbs.

One wall shot!

And my first red fox!

Lots of nice mounts everyone, keep the pictures coming! I love this thread
