Welcome to Ice Shanty. remember to keep the trip short and bring extra dry clothing and food/drinks. Think of some activities before the trip you all can do if fishing is slow. You want them to be comfortable and asking to go out again on a future trip.

That's awesome. Hope you have great luck. First times a charm. Lets hope it's true. We take my nephew out. He's into hockey so I keep an extra puck in my gear.

Way to take your kids out,  just don't stay too long and have plenty of snack and things to do.  If kids get bored, cold, or hungry they may not want to go again.  Good luck fishing!

Hands and feet. Extra socks and mittens. Wool all the better. Toasty toes and warm hands make a happy child. Running around on the ice helps to. Boredom is a killer.

My 9yo daughter is my fishin partner whether hard or soft water.  Key is a pair of good warm boots and gloves.  She outlasts me sometimes, I wanna leave and she begs me to stay.  There is nothing in the world that is better than spending quality time with your kids.  The memories will last forever.  Can't wait till my 3yo wants to join us on the ice.
It is MY responsibility to make sure my children can enjoy fishing years from now. Make sure your kids can fish.  If you see something ILLEGAL Contact the Massachusetts Environmental Police Radio Room at 1-800-632-8075 at any hour of the day. They might show up if there is enough staff working.

taking kids ice fishing this great if you have a underwater camera target the blue gills and some small fish that you can catch regularly and do some video fishing kids love that being able to see their jig and see the fish take their jig all while watching the camera.

My 2 boys love to come! we set up for Pike with plastic milk jugs tied on and stung out to the shack that wont fit down the hole. It's like royal rumble when the jugs start to move!!! I have been know to tackle them a time or 2 myself haha.

Key is to keep them busy.  My son likes to scoop the holes, play with the minnows, eat snacks, and catch fish.  Did I mention bring snacks.  Also bring an extra set of clothes and boots.  I've made that a priority every time and never had a problem.  Fished a lake two hours away yesterday and 10 minutes into the trip and his foot went into the camera hole.  Boot full of water and some very wet clothes. Luckily we had the extra set of stuff along and didn't have to cut trip short.  I also cut my holes in the portable to give him as much room to move as possible.  I am very attentive to his location around holes but goes to show you can't be there every second.  I will try not to start the holes size debate.  I just like the 6" holes when kids are with.  Safety is first priority with the little ones with.

There is nothing better than spending time with the kids on the ice. I took my son when he was little, and now I take his younger sisters. (i set them up with the hummer and camera and they out fish most others). When i go by myself i miss having them with me. Enjoy this time while you have it, it will go by quick.
