There is a left over SnoBear for sale in town here. Only $25,900. A new model is $32,000. I think I'll pass.  :woot:

There are quite a few like that around these parts. The Cabela's in Rogers, MN has a shack with a loft.

A lot of those are used year round. On Mille Lacs the resorts will provide storage during the off season. They will pull them out on the ice and move them for you. During the summer when they are in "storage" they serve as a cabin. Some of the bigger ones might hit the ice one season and then sit in "storage" the rest of the time. Gets you around some of the taxes and such that you would pay on a cabin.

My wifes cousin has a cabin. He had an RV trailer he used for extra accomadations. The thing kinda rotted out on him. His work was selling a construction trailer. He bought the trailer and using the stove, sink and other goodies from the RV he built one of these shacks. It has actually been on the ice once or twice but the main reason was he could have an additional building on his property without pulling permits or getting variances.

The SnoBear looks great if you have tons of time to ice fish. I probably have the time, but I haven't managed to hit Powerball right yet. If I hit Powerball, I might have one on the deck of my yacht.  ;D ;)

It is the kind of thing I would buy if I owned a resort.

Ever travel out to a shack in one of these?

Not yet, but I would love to. Maybe one of these winters my son and I will give a sleeper house a try.

Those bombadiers are a blast to travel in. They take you out quite a few miles onto Lake of the Woods. Neat old machines. I think I heard that they haven't made any in quite awhile.

The details that I see in the various pictures were well thought out!

- I see house style recessed lights, wiring, and wall mounted switches.

- Lots of storage compartments to keep everything organized.

- Solar/Battery Power (probably a generator to power the Toaster Oven / Microwave).

- The "Creature Comforts" of a TV with Satellite Reception.

It looks like it was built so it could be winched up onto a trailer as well. My best guess is that this guy spent several thousand dollars to build such a nice shanty ($5,000 - $6,000???).

The shanty is not mine.  A friend of mine sent me the pictures and I about died.  I knew the first group of folks that I had to send the pictures to were IS folks.  I have no idea whose it is....where it is....how much cost and time was involved.  I can tell you this much....I'd sure like to spend a day / night in there.

It's gotta be on a private lake, too, I would imagine.  I wouldn't leave something like that unattended on a public lake!
