i need help finding the best ice fishing rod brands help me

For affordability I like the Gander Mountain combos, but St Croix makes a heck of a rod for a little more money. I have put both kinds through the ringer and both are holding strong. Hope this helps. Cheeks out!!! 8)

I was thinking about the St Croix thanks for the help im gonna get a shimano reel with a st croix rod i think that would make a great combo thanks!!!

Jason Mitchell Rods are terrific as well as the Ice Blues. Ice Blues are good rods for little money.

I like to use a ultralite ugly stick and i use the Dave Genz Ice Buster combos they work very well.......

I like my Dave Genz True Blue. I was surprised by how sensitive it is and the reel is nice to as it has an over sized spool to help reduce line memory

if you enjoy working on tackle you can ty quility ice rods cheaper and better then you can buy i perfer a micro lite 36 inch blank with a thin handle ..... best ice rod i ever had was the old ht bream rods 36 onch with micro thin handles those were the bomb

sure are , my fav. is that green blank we use to get down to doms on corner of teal and court , balsa handle ,with no. 2 gold hooks for eyes and a little hand line whinder ,back in the day i didn't have 2 nickles to rub together made a lot of rods, hair and feather jigs ,i still have all my rods i built some are not very pretty but functional first hand auger i had was a spoon ,you can remember doing the same stuff i'm sure

first auger i bought was a spoon auger i got for 2.50 lol twist all day ya got a few holes lol after that the mora the lazer and power auger .... like i said times change but the song remains the same

Been using an Ice Blues this year and really like it, but find that I've never fished an HT ice rod I didn't like.

i like the ice blues and ht rods st crox is a bit expensive for my taste ... i get my blanks from netcraft and tie my own ...

I just picked up a rip city rod from cabelas online on sale...haven't used it yet, will know better after sunday. Otherwise I used uglysticks & have always liked them

if ya buy a ice blue throw it in the garbage to save you some headaches...get a st croix

HT ice blue rods rule but i also use south bend thin ice rods in 30". they run about $12.00 and they are great. i own 5 of them now. but i just acquired 2 new Trapper rods i have to try. Sorry boys but there is only a seldom few that will ever get to use one of these one of a kinds rods. NOT SOLD IN STORES

i have a jason mitchell meat stick for gills a 26 perch and i have a thorne bros walleye 32m all great rods also ice blues love the meat stick for gills they all perfom great but have to be willing to pay the price
