Tasty indeed! Great post! We need a summer food thread. One of these years I'm gonna get a smoker.
No pics, but my favorite summer staple is dirt cheap quartered chicken legs. My local market has a quality supplier at maybe 70 cents a pound, and they're big. 1 is a plate filler.
Rub them with your favorite oil, and season the fat side with whatever dry seasoning you like. I prefer low salt ones, and layered on thick. I'll even zap it with Pam or whatever to make sure it stays glued.
Fat side and seasoning faces down, and the bare side gets a liberal coating with a sauce or glaze to seal in the moisture. Re-apply once or twice as needed.
Initially I like to have a hot grill to get the fat side and seasoning sizzling. Some flames licking at it is ok, but it warrants watching. Once the fat side has some character, I'll move everyone to 2/3 or 3/4 up the grill and let it go for roughly 45 minutes at 400, or (my fav) an hour at 350. Pull and loosely cover for 5 minutes or so before serving.
Think my next fav grill item these days is the black, blue, and bacon burger. Nom nom nom....
-
I hear ya about the yardbird Bri, I do a lot of Drunkin chicken on the grill also, really tough to beat !

More like pink slime and chemicals with most of those things. It's downright frightful reading the ingredients list on packaged meats these days.
Perusin' this topic this morning makes me think it's time to season up a pork butt to slow cook in the Weber.
-
Ive got pork ribs in the fridge marinating as we speak. ;D
Its so darn close to lunch my belly button is chewing a hole through to my back, looking at all Surfs cookin.

Just had to share this with you guys. One of these days I'll learn how to post pictures, wish I could show you tonight's barbecue..... :woot:
My better half decided she would grill us dinner tonight, nothing fancy, hot/sweet sausages, and a couple hamburgers, great. While I'm in the kitchen making a salad, I look out the window and see flames and smoke bellowing out of the gril, no wife in sight! So I go running thru the house, down the back steps like a madman to the grill and shut down the burners, they couldn't go any higher! Now I lift up the cover....DOH! I really fealt bad for the poor crispy blackened things that were going to feed us. Now I go looking for my wife. She's in her flower garden on the opposite side of the house. Walked up and I said, wow, the flowers are really looking great hun....how's the grill doing? Looked like a deer in the headlights, took of running yelling oh .....! Anyway, she opened the cover and almost cried......just ordered Chineese....lol.
-
THAT's why women should never be allowed anywhere near a grill!!!! That sucks, Eddie!!!! Sorry that had to happen!!! I'd serve her the burnt dinner in her flower garden!!! No, no, you have to eat it ALL!!!!! ;D
-
  Sometimes a man must know his limitations Reb! ;D
-
