GPS Maps for Colorado Lakes
« on: Nov 07, 2013, 04:52 PM »
I was wondering what everybody uses for maps on their GPS for Colorado lakes. I have both a LMS 520 and a Elite 5 that I use on the ice that I absolutely love but the maps on them really suck. While cruising some of the known websites for map chips I see that they don't have a whole lot of lakes for Colorado. Is their a mapping software you can use that maybe compatable to these units? Of course I could use a paper map but that takes away all the fun!!!

What do you guys use?

I don't have mine in front of me so can't remember the brand, but there are a number of them out there for major lakes, some with with GPS localities (e.g. Granby).  Go to Bass Pro, Sportman's Warehouse, etc, and ask for the maps.  They are waterproof and sturdy.
There is no such thing as bad weather - only bad clothing.

I fish a lot in South Park, and the company Fish'n'Maps has some great maps with individual spots marked.  They work great, but you can't load the whole lake onto your GPS.  Helpful starting point, though.  Many of their other lake maps have coordinates as well.
Fishin' is better with a Malty Beverage!
