New tightline reel question
« on: Jan 09, 2014, 01:19 PM »
Good afternoon all. I just bought an inexpensive HT Tightline reel and I have a question. Im used to using spinning reels and I reel with my left hand. I'm not sure how this tightline reel is set up. If I'm reeling it with my left hand the retrieval is silent, when I'm letting line out there is an audible click, click, click. I assume this is correct because you would want to hear the click when a fish takes out line. Am I right? Thanks!!

Sounds right to me, too. You are cranking counterclockwise, right. Over the top and away from you. I saw someone on a Ice Fishing TV show cranking back towards himself. It looked really clutzy. It was Tom Gruenwald Outdoors, so obviously an HT Reel. I think it was mounted backwards.
There's a fine line between fishing and standing on the ice looking like an idiot.
