No walleye seen yet by me anyways. Often well have a school of tiny perch and shiners come through

Has anyone been fishing Pigeon Lake  lately?
Fishing is an attitude especially when you have a 112 lb. halibut at the other end of the line two hundred feet down!

There was never a fish hatched I couldn't outsmart.

Went to Wabamun today on a last minute decision, didn't get skunked but close.  Only one 5 lb pike on the ice, lost 2 or 3 others.

Dec 9 2012 Went out on the west side of Wabaman (seba Beach)  moved the tent twice and both places were only 10 inches thick.
Had my hand down the hole up to the elbows trying to get a fish off my camera cable and the water realy was not that cold.
Heard the east end of the lake is around 12 inches.   might have to get to - 30 for a few weeks  for  ice to get thicker.

have fished the Ascott beach area the last two sundays. Both times we got two up the hole and missed about 4 on the tipups. Was about 12" of ice this past Sunday. Pics are from two Sundays ago. Forgot my camera on our last trip.

BEAUTY!  How heavy was she, you figure?

I tried twice to download a pic of my biggest pike to date last year from Wab....failed.  Sure are some BIG BIG fish in there.

Thanks for sharing the pics!

I went to wab yesterday and beware of ice conditions i found almost a foot in most places but found a section east of fallis that was only six. The pike were biting though not on any movement. had to dead stick sardines to catch em.

Ryan and I were out there the other day and it was slow for what I was used too. Jackfish proved a little better.

Biggins are still being pulled.  The bigger the bait the better in my experience.

I have found it really slow.

Has anyone found the pike fishing to generally be slower than usual this year? Ive been out several times to several different areas that have previously produced large numbers of large pike and have either returned skunked, or only landed a handful of small hammer handles.

Wab is one of the exceptions this year for me.  The numbers are way lower and size hasn't compared to the 10-15lb'ers I have often caught.....and the moster 27lb'er....hope I catch some big fish there again ...soon!

I have found it slower for pike for me to.  One lake I went to lots last year we could catch 30 or so pike in a day between a few guys, not it was like pulling teeth to get 10.  With my camera at a few of the lakes I have always seen lots down there, and some nice sized ones to.  Just not interested in my bait and I have been switching and trying different set ups with not a whole lot of change in luck.

I'm seeing lots of fish on the Cam but notice they just swim by for the most part. I have seen some really huge fish and been lucky enough to land a few in the low teens. My theory is the rapid change of barometric pressure we have been experiencing. One week cold, next mild, next cold, thats messes with me why not them? I think March will be making everybody happy as the pre-spawn urge will be building in them and the usual aggressiveness we all love will be driving them on to kill again. God bless them!
Hell, if I'd jumped on all the dames I'm supposed to have jumped on, I'd have had no time to go fishing.
