Salted Dead Minnows?
« on: Jan 21, 2011, 08:40 PM »
Shiners Cost $7.50 doz where i live, so when they die I used to get upset, but I have been salting them and throwing them in the freezer, or leaving them in the shack.

On some days the dead ones out fish the live ones.

Any one doing anything like this???

would love more ideas.

I saved my minnows i had last time out and froze them for a week and tried re-using them a week later on my tip-ups....no flags no nothing...i was actually wondering if anyone else has done that or had any success.  Didnt know if the minnows would have to be a little fresher to be more successful

i have had some luck with salted minnows mostly on pike though. i think it depends what species your targeting as different species like different types of bait
