Garage Hanger - Shanty
« on: Dec 12, 2013, 05:52 PM »
Anyone come up with or seen a device to hang your shanty from a pulley system in the garage?  Any pictures?
Thanks.

I just built a platform to set it on, eye bolt in each corner, swingset chain from eyebolts to ring, and ran cable from boat winch through pulley fastened to rafter and back down to ring. Winch mounted to post. Crank it up in the rafters and leave it out of the way until winter.

I have a 4x4 Racor rack that I bought from Amazon. Mounted it above the garage door. I take the chairs off of my shack in summer and it fits up there nicely along with the rest of the gear and 2 set smitty sleds. My roof is exposed, so install was easier for me than some of the amazon reviews.

In winter, it stays down ready to go. Added some strips of wood to a furniture cart, shack goes on that to roll around the garage.

I use a bike hanger I bought at Harbor Freight. I hoist it all the way up into the rafters.
A unique pulley locking mechanism on this bicycle lift quickly hoists your bike for easy storage, giving you extra space in your garage. Mounting hardware and a 46 ft. nylon rope are included with the bicycle lift and set-up couldn’t be easier. This bike hoist is perfect for anyone who needs a little extra space in their garage or to keep your bike safe from scratches.

if you have open ceiling  trusses you can also secure the bike lift hoisted sleds  with a dollar store rschet strap so you arent fretting they mught drop in your car

fishinjim   do you hook  the system directly to your commando?  Ive tried this hoist system and it lifts one side first then the other. everything slid out of my commando . I must be doing something wrong. Any help would be appreciated.

Hoosier

You must adjust the sled level as you whinch it up.

It it gets at an angle.....lock the rope then pull down on the high side and it will level..thee resume winching...

Sometimes I will use a ratchet strap cradle to lift

Those hooks aren't the best unless you drill matching holes in your sled lip
