Trouble Catching Pike
« on: Jan 06, 2008, 01:04 PM »
One of the lakes I fish I can always catch pike during open water off a dock. But during the winter I cant seem to find them. Where should I look. I have set tip ups on drop offs, weed edges, and were I catch bluegills. Any idea on where else I could find them or am I just having bad luck?

It sounds like bad luck to me.  If they are not in the weeds, they may be roaming a deep water flat 20 - 30'.  I have found them there in different lakes.  Did you try in the weeds?  Set you minnows 1 - 2' above the weeds.  Also look for points and other structure along the weedlines and drop offs.
