MyFishFinder.com Just like iceshanty but warmer
made it out for the first time this year and lost one on my 20lb. fish was over 20 for sure. i'm switching to 40
Seeing your comment directly above made me laugh looking at this one! But in all seriousness, Sorry about your loss. Extremely hard to cope with during the holidays
finlessbrown, you jinxed yourself. When I go lighter, I end up breaking off, but I seem to get more bites. Then I get mad at myself, come back with the heavy stuff, then I get like almost no bites. Then I get mad about it, come back with some lighter stuff and the whole crazy cycles repeats itself. Once in a while I do upgrade my reel or to something of better quality and find my success will improve with the lighter stuff. 30# will be the lightest I will do this year. I've got 80# set aside. I might just get some 50# stuff ready on the side as well or maybe some 40# and 60# stuff too. Darn this thread....
I use 15lb mono. Let my pictures speak for themselves If the fish wants to run let it run don't sit there and try to winch it in. Its not a hard process.
I curently make all my leaders out of steel. You guys are making me think I should go to floro. Do you just put a loop on one end, hook on other end? Is it that simple? or are you using spinners, beads, or the typical stuff you find on store bought? Will the collars you use on steel work, or do you tie knots? give me some assembly ideas, pis . Thanks Mike
actually i have some 30 pound test spider wire braid on hand, think that will work?
okay thanks, hmm its deff harder for me to cut than mono, lol. i need a knife to cut the stuff, mono i can bite in half
