well for me its Jerky, deer sausage and if its a short trip samiches

Wild game jerky and sausage are my favorites also.

For some of those long all day treks a stop at the Subway is in order, "One full size Sub with dbl meat dbl cheese, please."

Don't forget a beer ta wash it down with and a bottle of Schnapps or Brandy for a warmer-upper. 

Some Old-Fashion hard candy ta top it off.

Home made jerky and smoked cheese (I use apple) are a couple of favorites of mine. Sometime we'll grill sausage and make some "Cup o Soup'' on the portable grill. Weber makes a really nice one that packs up small; though sometimes I'll break and set it up on the tailgait. BTW, If the big companies knew we were ice fishermen our rates would go up, big time!

If I'm going to be out all day with my buddies then generally I'll bring the old coleman cook stove and we'll cook up venison or duck from the past fall.  My favorite is venison sausage subs with sauteed onions and peppers and a nice cold beer to wash it all down.

If i bring my wife we have a full blown breakfast eggs sausage and bacon thats my favorite eats on the ice    however some beer brats and onions does the job well too

I don't know about the rest of you but I always seem to eat better on the ice! I freeze some venison steaks in ziplock bags with marinade so their good to go when they thaw. Our "ice neighbor" (his handle on the radio is steakhouse) has the ultimate woodburner stove we always have something going when thats fired up. Brats, Italians, venison sausage, steaks, roast. My buddy brings salmon filets in a pan w/butter that you can't stop eating. Smoked salmon, venison jerky. Always smoke out the shanty with bacon n eggs in the morning, man the list goes on and on.... now I'm hungry.

If I could get my wife on the ice, it would be cold cereal for breakfast, cold sandwiches for lunch and Pizza Hut delivered to the boat launch for the evening meal. Yuck!!

I'd like to say I cook/eat like you guys claim to on the ice.  However, we usually just take stuff like cheese, crackers, kipper snacks, summer sausage, junk food and/or leftovers.  If someone is thinking, we have a jug of water. When those run out (or we forget them), we normally go hungry.  When we get really hungry, then we head in.

As my dad always says, " You could cook a dog turd out on the ice and it would probably taste good" , Although i believe that is just an expression. As long as you're on the ice anything tastes great. The crisp air, the hard water, the whole fishing experience is worth it. And we ( my dad and I ) used to take P-butter Sammi's and toast them over a can of sterno. nothing special, but still brings back memories of the good ole' days.
