First rock bass through the ice

Slightly rare to catch a rock bass during the soft water season on this particular lake, so I was quite surprised to land this 9 1/4" through the ice while aggressively jigging a 3" russian spoon targeting walleye and perch. In Manitoba a master rock bass is 10" and over.

For some odd reason, the rock bass I've caught were on a nighttime feed. They can be even harder to coerce to bite than crappies or walleyes at times.

Congrats on the rockbass. I remember one year I found myself in a school or rockies. They were pretty fun to reel in.
