A matter of semantics
« on: Dec 07, 2018, 02:50 PM »
What is the "correct" name for the "rustic" style of icefishing jig rod - - ie., it does NOT look like  a miniature spinning rod but has a wooden handle and a plastic spool on the side with a handle attached, and a metal ring hook at the end of the butt.

I have one now that I use for "dead sticking" (i.e., balancing the rod across the top of a five gallon pail, using a shiner for bait, and tying the metal ring hook to the handle of the pail) and I would like to get another one, but cannot seem to find one online.

I think you are looking for a Schooley's ice rod... Fish USA has them.
