Ya, I found the story that the stocking crew would dump lake trout in a lake that was not in the stocking plan a hard to believe. As to them not growing, lakers are notorious for getting stuck at that 16”-24” size unless there is a lot of forage fish small enough eat. I would guess that is where a lot of those Kokanee are ending up…in the bellies of lake trout! 20” fish are often 10 years old or more.
you can call it a story all you want but doing a little research and you can find that lake trout were first stocked and reported back in 1936 and kokanee first introduced before 1929. So why is it hard to believe they have done it more than once? If you would ever like to talk to the gentlemen that witnessed it in the 80s I would be happy to set up a time. I like how you and Clear Creek are quick to jump to conclusions and believe everything that a government entity tells you.
So I'm new to moving things around and attempted to move the other conversations on the Lake De Smet board. I removed the post trying to move them to the WY board. I thought the conversations was better suited for there than the ice/ fishing reports. Nothing was inappropriate just ignorance on my half.
