Galvanized all the way. I have some tip ups that have plastic spools and they are ok. I would rather have my old woodies with the galvanized though any time.

I like the woodies as well, Brick red with the aluminum spool. my choice are made by Riverside MFG here in central Mass, which have been family made here for 2 generations now. keepin it local...

my preference is galvanised . I'm building  the old tip ups using the old galvanised spools .

I have plastic on my Continentals and they work fine

I have homemade tip ups and I love them. JCaughtem made them for me. Using new wood and parts from old ones that I had.
