Aww there he is, Macchamp "AKA " PGKRIS.. I knew you couldnt keep you identity hidden. There was no was you could go more than a week or two with out bringing up that strange looking photoshopped fish you call huge.. Hmm
any way back to the discussion of the huge line as i think there are thoughts to still be disscussed. Like you say that playing out a fish is hard on i t.. ok in certain circumstances I would agree with you. But in the majority of the time I have the fish up very quickly, but what concerns me is the speed in which you bring a laker "for example" up from 100 feet or so, has been documented to have a higher mortality rate than a fish that is eased up a little more. What are your thoughts on this..

It wasn't the posting of photos as much as giving others grief over "gilling" those poor trout.    ;)

Salmoncandy,
You are absolutely right about bringing a fish up to fast in deep water. I usually hit the Char in shallower water than the burbot, but thats not always the case.  If you do hook them deep you burp the fish by gently pushing the air trapped in the swim bladder out the mouth.
I always use light line in clear water, spooky fish, situations. Obviously when ice fishing in most lakes you don't have to worry about clear water issues, especially when in 60-120ft of H20. Another reason I chose to use heavier braided line is I like to spool my 5500 Abu right up. I don't like using a mono backing. Thats just my preference. With the diameter of the super lines I figure why not go with heavy. Also with the price of the larger lures we use for Lake trout, and Ling, I don't lose any when snagged on bottom. The hook always gives before the knot.
Mackchamp,
your pics are great. Less ribbin... more pics

Why don't you guys leave the big fish talk to the folks that catch the big fish ;) Not those puny azz burbot and lakers from COO COO.

C O C K Y Talk like this takes the fun away from this web page. I bet you can't be polite & unopinionated about any subject on any web page. This kinda comment takes the enjoyment away from our fishing adventures and is really unwelcome. Sometimes I wish you would just keep your opinion to your self!
This webpage was about enjoying everyones fishing adventures as well as your own.
I guess what I'm saying is, Why can't you just be polite and have fun by not getting under everyones skin? Do you enjoy taking our fun away from Ice fishing? Is that what your about?

Looks like I missed something when I was away in Mexico. Great looking specimen there Pitbell.
I'm sure the ice is thick now on Coo Coo. I shall have to give her a try.
