Youth Ice-Fishing Event??
« on: Oct 02, 2011, 10:46 AM »
Good morning all - have had the urge to do some volunteering and would love to be able to help children who may not otherwise be able to experience the sport of ice fishing get out there.  Figured I'd reach out to the board to see if there were any events in Southern Maine (Portland-area) or central Maine (Bangor-area) which may need an extra helping hand this winter.  I know there must be something out there and I would like to offer help to those who may be familiar with an event like this.  Mike

there are a few kids derbies that can use volunteers. the one on Lower Range, and the kids portion of Crystal Lake are two that come to mind. just stay tuned on here and you'll find some calls for volunteers. if you want to really go above and beyond, get involved with Hooked on Fishing, you can become a "certified instructor" and help out at certain outings that they do.

Dylan,
Your link takes me to a username and password form and not to any page ???

Anyway, here's another link to the same program:

Hope I'm not overstepping any bounds here but the following e-mail is listed on the IF&W site for additional information regarding the instructor certification program for Hooked on Fishing for anyone interested:  [email protected]

Thanks again for the suggestion Dylan.

Mike
