Closest Decent Laker Fishing
« on: Jan 05, 2018, 08:38 AM »
Just wondering if anybody had input for the best spot to go for lakers that is relatively close. Something that can be done in 2 days or less. I only have weekends to fish, but may bue able to get a Friday off. I know there’s lake George witch is only like 3 hours max from me. Really looking to jig for them and size doesn’t much matter. Thanks for any input, don’t freeze this weekend.

Thanks guys, if anybody wants to message over some tips or board links for parking places and stuff like that it would be sick. If anybody wants to meet up and fish around here and maybe do a day trip somewhere let me know, I’m always down for an adventure

Lake Glenida in Carmel NY , 15 minn from Danbury.    Need a free reservoir NYC DEP access permit (online) and a NY license.   Seen a guy fishing it 2 days ago , just froze over not long ago so be safe. Reservoirs never freeze like regular lakes do, should be good to go this weekend.   It drops off deep in the middle , 100 feet Plus.     Guys in summer caught 10 pound Plus ,  it holds good fish.

When you get a NY license, then you can also fish “The King”... Lake George,  my opinion best laker lake .

Ed, I think you should spend some time learning The King. It's an amazing fishery. The drive isn't as bad as Sebago either. This is a good winter to check out the NYC Reservoirs in Putnam County, which are a lot closer to home than both Lake George. It's something I have been talking about doing for years--hoping this is the year...

I'm 15 minutes from laker water (NY Reservoirs) here in Danbury and would love to take a shot at them.  I started a thread about it in the NY forum and got some information by PM as well.
My mission is goin' fishin'.

Can anyone tell me more about lake winnipesaukee would I need a snow machine to get to the laker water? Is there any particular place to park and get out on the ice that you guys recommend? And how deep would I be fishing? I would love to spend a weekend laker fishing there.

Schug I thought Winni was tricky and only went 1x.  Caught lakers but no where near the pace of NY.  A machine would help!

Ok a little bit about fishing nh read the rules and regulations the game wardens will not cut you a break it is also a lead-free Lakes white tubes work good for jigging bucktails work good for jigging everything must be single hook no treble hook and salmon cannot be taken out of the ice anything with lake trout are two trap lakes or one trap 1 jig Pole and then there are Cusk lines you're allowed six but regulations are tight about those so read carefully if you decide you want to set out cusk lines when tipping your jigs with sucker meat be sure to scale it and cut into strips fish 30 to 60 feet of water. And remember one more important thing weather can change at a drop of a dime
