First time this winter. Met up with a buddy at the Ellis boat harbor (Cedar Rapids) early. 6-7 in. of good ice, but only one small crappie that flipped off the hook as I was bringing him thru the hole. Then on to a backwater off the Cedar River near Palo, 3-3/12 in of ice, caught 1 hammer handle northern and a couple small gills.
But what a great day! Outside on the ice, a good friend, a couple cigars, a nip or two of whiskey, and a couple fish.
