My bear creek decoys seemed to be the ticket on my lake last winter, mainly the 9" suckers in natural color and orange. Carved my 1st one last winter which seemed to do good its 10" and mirror silver so it really flashes and draws em in

My big red and white, did the best for me again, but the new clown decoy I recieved from the decoy maker did quite well and so did the tullipee decoy.

I almost always start off with a red and white, otherwise a baby pike is pretty reliable for me.

i prefer a smaller sized 4''-6'' natural sucker sized and colored decoy. golden sucker is the second choice. perch color and size is my third choice.  red head-white body sucker is choice #4.  no matter what decoy i use, the pectoral fins need to be painted white for flash/contrast, top and bottom.
.
i have the chance to spear burbot and whitefish while after pike.    the bigger decoys tend to scare the ''other fish''.
.
i've never felt ''undergunned'' using a smaller decoy.
.
