« on: Dec 26, 2012, 08:22 PM »
I was looking into getting an eskimo auger and i was wondering if anyone had any reviews on the Shark Z51.  I have read maybe reviews on the mako and im torn between the two what are your thoughts? Thanks!

I use the Z71.  I like the 10" hole gives me plenty of room with my flasher.  8" is fine too, just whatever your preference is and/or budget.  I don't think you could go wrong with either one!  I have no regrets getting the Z71.

I bought one last year and it has been a good auger. Lots of power for the 8" drill and no real problems.

The Shark and Mako have the same motor just the Shark is available in a 71cc displacement size.  Both are top notch high quality augers and you won't be disappoined with either.

On my second z51.  I bought the 10" model at the tail end of last winter.  Ridiculously fast cut.  My previous model was the 9", which sadly enough, isn't offered anymore.

Frankly, I'd be hard pressed to find a situation where a Mako in 10" wouldn't work fine.  Plenty of users in Canada, that are cutting with extensions and having no issues.

Great augers.

In the neighborhood of 10 years now with my 10" Z51, it gets the job done.   b
