I wait until at least six inches in order to be safe.  (or else my wife won't let me go...)

I saw 2 guys fishing on Dunhams Bay on Lake George about 4 years ago 2 days after it skimmed over. I was driving by as they were coming in and i asked them how much ice there was. The big guy said"ahh , theres a good inch and a half out there" I rolled my eyes and drove away. :cookoo:

If you wait for six inches in Indiana, you could miss the whole season!  It's got to be real close to 3 for me
