cook stove for heat
« on: Jan 27, 2013, 09:35 PM »
I tried using the search button already. Does anyone use a coleman propane cook stove to heat their permanent shack? i thought i read on here some people do, but i cant find it. Was trying to kill two birds with one stone, heat and a cooker

They work fine. Just make sure your shack isn't too air tight!
You can always find me where the wind breaks.

I have a butane 1 burner that I use to get the shack up to heat, then my little buddy does the trick.  You should be fine, just ake sure you are getting some fresh air in the shack.

I've done it.  You will go through a lot of fuel but it certainly heats up a place fine

Propane cookstoves work great. I would suggest gettting a hose and running a 20lb tank external from the shack. 1 lb propane tanks can give you all sorts of problems when you need them most. We have had problems with appliances not wanting to run right when the 1 lb tanks get low on pressure, this is not a prob with 20lb tanks.

My cousin's uses a 3 burner propane cookstove. It works great to heat the shack up. Plus it there when ready to cook up some deer stake. Like said before, make sure you have fresh air coming in.

I did a few times last year but didn't like the safety factor when kids are around with flames and all.  Not to mention other items potentially getting burned and the fumes it puts off.  My big buddy heater is so much more effective and safe.

Used a Coleman 2 burner with liquid fuels, both kinds. I'm still here. Like they say, ventilation a must.  On real cold days had to set it on the floor or legs and feet got cold.
