Hard to believe a two year old machine would seize right up like that. You sure a bolt, screw, nut or something didnt fall down into your engine or flywheel? Just out of curiousity what were you running it on for mix?
Im interested to see what has happened so please keep us posted.

Well you were right Hoppy
It was a lil bolt that must have fell into the fan housing some how?
It broke one fan blade , but all is good. Fired right up .
Funny as it looked  like all bolt were acounted for?
Whatever its ready for next season....

Question for the guys with either the 8900 or a Barracuda.  I keep our 8900/'Cuda at the cabin, so I can't reference it, but is 1/4" rope too thick to use to replace the pull start rope?  I spent a whopping $1.22 on 6ft of 1/4" and now it looks kind of thick.  Any helpful reply is greatly appreciated.

Howdy MrMeiz, welcome to the thread. I have swapped out the rope on my 8600 a couple of times and the 3/16 nylon works the best for me. The 1/4 may be too big and drag going in and out of the recoil housing and fray prematurely.

Your 8900 looks to be in really nice shape, Great score ! I put a carb rebuild kit in my 8600 and she starts on the 2nd or 3rd pull every time, well worth the 8 bucks for the kit ! Eve at Ardisam was really helpful helping me find an exploded diagram for rebuilding mine !

Thanks!  Now if I could only figure out how to finally fix the gas tank leak.  And oh yeah, I sprung the recoil spring last weekend.   :pinch:

I tried to fix the leak in my tank with plastic weld, but it was too brittle ! I called Eva at Ardisam and she found me a tank for $14 bucks !

I'd pay $14, but I've had folks at Ardisam tell me they're $30-$40 after shipping.  Only paid a hundo for the auger.  In fact, here's a CnP of the email reply I got in response to my inquiry.

Quote
Yes, I have the gas tank available.  The part number is GT49B, the cost is
$34.73 plus s&h.  You will need to give us a call to order, as this part is not
available on our web site.  Our phone number is 800-345-6007; we are open Monday
through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm central time.  We accept Visa, Mastercard or
American Express.

Wow, they have gone up a lot in 2 years ! Its just my opinion, but Even paying that for the tank is well worth it because these older augers can be tuned and do run better then any of the new augers available today ! Plus they are American made Steel, not cheap chinese Plastic !! Just my .02 !

Whelp..............goi ng Bluegill fishing in Michigans Upper Peninsula for a week, leaving Sunday!! Oh yeah buddy, thankfully the rain is dampering all the wildfires and the spring action should be hot and heavy, aiming for that 2 pound, angry, hause of a gill that tries to pull me overboard. Nothing like big gill fishing, they are so powerfull! After that, a day or two of chasing some big brookies on the Fox! Boy am I ready! Good luck to all of you on your spring adventures!

Wowza! That was the best week Ive had in awhile. Lots of nice gills, hundreds actually, water warmed from 65 to 70 during the week we were there and the gills started bedding up. The action was fierce and we caught everything from panfish, to largemouth and pike, to walleye. What a great little lake. Needless to say, we booked two cabins for the same week next year! Now, I only need to entertain myself for another 50 weeks ;D ;D ;D

Just found this today.  Looks like it has been around a while.  Sign me up. I've been running a pirranha 8 inch since the late 90's.  It runs great and starts on the 3rd pull unless you forget to turn on the switch or you're out of gas.   :%$#!:  I gave it a new spark plug about 5 years ago. No other maint. required.  Added a MO 949 pop up to the mix last year and the clam yukon is now getting lonely.  :icefish:

Mixed up some fresh gas and finally fired up my MO like i wanted to do weeks ago.  It fired up after a couple of pulls after i got her primed up.  I think i will keep stating her up every week so she's ready to go for the ice.    ;D
