Hi BigIce,

If you are slayer you just catch big fish, species not so important   :o

We have a great selection here - generally in lower elevations/east side of state (or 'front range') its similar to the back east (NY/NJ).  So largemouth &  smallmouth bass, walleye, perch, trout and catfish are available.  As you get into the higher elevations we have some pike & salmon in the reservoirs, and lakes/streams are dominated by trout - lots of opportunity to catch rainbow, brown, brook, cutthroat, laker, and even golden trout.

If you ever have a chance to visit I highly recommend it

Here's what I've caught through the ice in Colorado:

Largemouth bass
black crappie
yellow perch
bluegill
pumpkinseed
green sunfish
hybrid sunfish
red ear sunfish
channel cat
golden shiner
common carp
white sucker (C&R state record)
rainbow trout
cutbow
cutthroat
brown trout
brook trout
lake trout
grayling
crawdaddies

Kind of difficult to find decent crappie and bluegill spots.  Largemouth spots are a little easier.  Lots of options for trout.  I haven't caught any smallies, walleye, or pike through the ice but haven't targeted them specifically.

CO is a state managed for cookie cutter bobo trout above all else. There's nothing like Champlain out here -- and definitely no lakes that allow 15 lines per angler.
Flags up, gentlemen!!!
