when we started fishing the stl lawrence river for eyes we noticed fisherman doing this and we said what the heck. well on our 3 rd trip up there my freind was laying oh his stomach looking down the hole and he yelled over get a tip up over here 5 nice eyes in this hole. we didnt get any bites out of that hole though and 2 hours later they dissappeared. we now cut our holes ist and then sightfish and then put our tip ups in. we have done well doing this. i have seen many fisherman that jig only and will look down the hole ist before jigging, your 5 year old knows what he is doing dad.
