the weather looks absolutely miserable for ice making even up here in northwest CT for the next 7 days at least..... Last year at this time there was pretty much ice everywhere in northern CT.... this is DEPRESSING. I'm gonna say we're gonna have to wait a week or 2 into january for ice here in CT at least on the bigger lakes.

Still ice not that far north, and with gas prices low the road trips are not that bad.

The water is ready to turn hard even nights bearly below 32 are putting thick skims on our lakes and ponds as far south as shelton I think we will be ice fishing sooner than everyone thinks

Assuming we can even remotely trust the 10 day forecast this year, the weather looks good starting Sunday night. A lot of nights in the teens

I don't think it will take long for safe ice once we get some cold. It seems like everybody of water I drive by has been holding skim ice for weeks. Hopefully we don't get any heavy prolonged rains.

First off Merry Christmas to everyone on the shanty!!!The forecast is definitely looking better once we get past new years. I just got back from NH and was fishing on 5 to 6 inches of ice before the the wet snow and rain came and chased us off but we did jig up close to 30 fish, it was great to dust the cob webs off and get back out on the hard water.

The jet stream looks like a big fat "U" with the middle of the country getting the cold air.

uh..... WFSB just put up weather for next sat... low 32 high of 45-50 with periods of rain. im done. WOW. 3 nights in the teens then 50... will we even fish!?!?

But then cold the next day again. Be patient. Ice is just around the corner

Bantam was totally skimmed over yesterday morning and it was only 29 degrees. With a little luck there should be fishable ice by weeks end. No 6 months in a row this year but hopefully the fish wont shut down like they did last year.
