magic shiners anise scent

just wanted to know if these work .i bought a pack threw mail order due to not having a bait shop close by.would it be better if i used the gulp alive minnows on my tipup's or these . first time using tipups. i have a choice between these 2 cant get live shiner's. thankyou in advanced

Live minnows throw off a scent when they are hooked and their motions set off a fishes lateral line of them being injured ...if you find another bait that does that let me know lol
