3rd Annual CT Outfitters Ice Tournament
« on: Dec 10, 2008, 07:17 AM »
As we are a new sponsor here, I'd like to let the gang know about our season long ice tournament going on...

Unlike most tourneys run by shops, this one costs nothing to enter Instead of an entry fee, we ask that when you enter a fish, a $2 dollar donation be made to an inner city kids fishing program in Hartford called  A Reel Chance

The fish must be caught by legal means through the ice anywhere in CT. All state laws apply.
We have categories for pike, bass, crappie, perch, walleye. trout, stripers and catfish. There will be prizes for first, second and third places in each category. over the last two seasons, we gave away shanties, Ice Armor suits, Aqua-Vu's, Augers, tip ups and more.

The prize structure for this year is still developing... Because we don't charge an entry fee, we completely  on donations from the manufacturers for prizes. Obviously times are tough all over and we are not having the same success as in years past with donations. I'll update the prizes ASAP.

In an attempt to minimize our impact on the fishery here in CT, we have put minimum length limits in place for the tournament.
There are two ways to enter your fish... The first is to bring the fish into the shop for weight and measurement. Also, in an attempt to get more participation and reduce the numbers of trophy fish killed, we are accepting photos of the fish. We will need 3 separate PRINTED photos. Photos MUST be brought to the store, we will not accept emailed photos...
First photo must be of angler holding fish, entire fish must be pictured.
Second photo must CLEARLY show fish laying next to tape measure.
Third photo must CLEARLY show the tail of the fish on tape measure. Measurement will be to the tip of the tail and in 1/4" increments.

The complete list of rules as well as the updated leader board and photos is on our web site: www.ct-outfitters.com If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at the shop...

Thanks and GOOD LUCK  ;D

Oh yeah, would you believe that this fish was only good for second place last year in the trout division?????

That fish was maybe 20". I fish with that guy and he's only 4' 6". It's too bad you can't use those for pike bait in CT!

what is it with you and ridiculously large fish?  Great tourney, got a great wally last year, and it somehow held for first place, good for an aquaview scout.  Cant wait to try for some other species this year.  I assume its allready started seeing as Matt has 1st place pike allready (jerk)  ;D

I pour gasoline down your holes when you aren't looking  ;)

You'll get some big ones, it's just a matter of time. You are the best assist man in the business. I don't know if I would have landed that trout without your clutch bear hug as it was slipping back through the hole. I definitely wouldn't have caught it if you hadn't convinced me to go trout fishing instead of pike fishing that day. Hopefully I'll be helping you out with a nice fish in the near future.

Ok, that's enough huggin you two. ;)
ANyway, you guys pay special attention please to the MASTER ANGLER CATEGORY.  There are very few who who have the "set" to qualify for this one...
Looks ike Saxmatt is out front this year, one down and four to go.

Yep... It will be the total length of your biggest fish in the following 5 categories: Pike, walleye, bass, trout, perch and crappie.

I'm still working on prizes so I don't know what you, Jack and Dave will end up winning yet  ::)  :D With any luck, it will be a Frabill shanty

E, I saw the entries when I stopped in for bait yesterday... Nice fish  ;D

Keep in mind, even if a fish isn't good enough for the leader board, as long as it meets the requirements then you still get entered for the grand prize drawing at the end of the tourney. The more fish you enter, the better your chances of winning it are...

I'm out of the shop on Sun-Tues so i will update the leader board when I get in tomorrow.

Gary & Co:  Any word on the prize structure yet?  I know it's tough getting companies to anty up in this economy.  Just curious is all.

Is there an updated list of fish entered floating around on iceshanty? I haven't been up to the shop in a
couple of weeks and was curious what the board looked like.
